Animal Control

The animal control officer performs what are commonly called “dog catcher” duties, which includes follow-up of suspected dog bite and rabies cases and impounding animals that are loose or being kept in violation of the Township ordinances. Additionally, he does the following:

a. removes and disposes of dead animals and roadkill.

b. consults with residents via telephone concerning wildlife situations

c. provides limited “no-kill” wildlife services to residents, including delivering live traps to residents and removing trapped animals to approved locations

Animal control service DOES NOT include services for insects, reptiles, mice, rats or birds. Nuisance fox and coyote complaints are also excluded. In addition, chicken, fowl or matters related to them, including noise, nuisance, or wild or domestic animals attacking such, and barnyard animals are excluded from the animal control officer’s duties.

If a resident seeks the assistance of our animal control officer, the Township offices should be called (248-540-3420) between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm, and the office will contact animal control officer for you.
